About the event
Christian Straube is one of the most versatile guitarists in Germany. He is a wanderer between musical worlds and across national borders. He lives in both Germany and Switzerland and likes to travel to France, especially Brittany.
Inspired by Breton music and his classical training, Christian Straube creates his own music.
He is a passionate composer and, in addition to his plays, also writes music for the theatre. His songs live from the various musical experiences that he has made his own over the decades. He takes up the lyricism of folk, the harmony and articulation of classical music, the freedom of jazz, even rock, blues and pop elements and uses them to form his unmistakable style.
The instrumental basis is his steel-string guitar, which he masters with highly developed technical perfection. Infinitely varied, in ever new ways and melodies, he leads the listener into the sensuality of his tonal world.
His work leads to the dissolution of borders. This can be seen in duo projects with musicians such as Friedemann, Ralf Gauck, David Kummer and his ensemble "Grand Cru", whose specialty lies in the unusual instrumental formations.
Christian Straube is a guitarist, composer, teacher at the Central Swiss Music School and festival director.
